Mr. Walker

It is with great pride I write this letter introducing myself as the new principal of Grice Middle School.  It is truly an honor to become part of this amazing Grice family.

I have been in education for 21 years. I come from a family of educators. In fact, my mother taught in Hamilton Township for 25 years, so I have been around educators all my life. I attended Wilson Elementary school, Grice Middle School, and graduated from Hamilton High School West. I attended college in Baltimore, Maryland at “The National Treasure” Morgan State University, and graduate school at Wilmington University in Wilmington, Delaware. I have worked with children in various positions from case manager for DCPP, classroom teacher, athletic coach, Assistant Principal, and now Principal.  In each of my roles I had the honor and privilege of supporting thousands of diverse learners and highly talented educators.  I started my career in education teaching elementary school in Willingboro, NJ before relocating to Atlanta, GA to teach advanced 5th grade students.  I returned to New Jersey to teach in Trenton after 6 years in Georgia before moving into Administration.  The summer of 2012, I was hired by Hamilton Township School District as Vice Principal of Grice Middle School.  I worked as Grice’s Vice Principal for 5 years before moving up to Nottingham High School for 6 years as Vice Principal.  Within each district, at each school, and inside every classroom I committed myself to improving the lives of each student I encountered.

With all that being said, I will spend a lot of time with your scholars, getting to know their personalities, learning styles and interests. I will celebrate their successes, small and large. I will encourage them every day and let them know they are cared for, valued, and have a special place in our school community. Not only am I excited to begin working with your scholars, but I look forward to the work we will do together. I cannot wait to share new experiences together at Grice.

I have been spending a lot of my summer getting re-acclimated to Grice, all while ensuring a smooth transition. I will get to know our community, and familiarize myself with the unique needs of our school. I believe wholeheartedly that every single scholar deserves a quality and equitable learning experience that will only happen when the school and the families work together for the best interests of our children. I will be depending on   our faculty, parents, and community members to work as a unified team so we can best serve our scholars. The theme for our school and the district this year is P.R.I.D.E. (present, respectful, involved, determined, and educated).  Here at Grice we plan to model and exemplify each word in our theme.

I am so honored and thankful to have the opportunity to bring all that I have to offer back to the community that raised me and molded me into the person I am today.  I look forward to getting to know each of you. I look forward to meeting you all very soon.
