About the Library
Mission Statement: An effective library media program is an integral part of the total educational process. Our goal is to connect students with information and ideas in a variety of subject and interest areas. An instructional partnership between the librarian and faculty members will enable us to provide learning experiences for students that support the curriculum in each grade and subject area. We aim to help students to develop the skills needed to be effective seekers of information, to help them understand the value of literacy, and to foster a lifelong love of reading and learning.
Library Collection: Our print collection is referenced through OPALS, our automated card catalog/circulation system. Our library houses over 10,000 books, magazines and other resources. We also offer a digital collection of ebooks and audiobooks which can be accessed through the Sora digital reading app. Students can access Sora in Clever when logged into their HTSD account. Browsing and borrowing books has never been easier! Students can check out titles and read directly on any device including their district issued chromebook, a smartphone, tablet, or Kindle. No more lost books or late fees, books are automatically returned after the lending period has ended. The librarian will provide an overview of Sora as well as a tutorial for all students during their ELA class in September.
